Blonde Date An Ivy Years Novella The Ivy Years Book 0 edition by Sarina Bowen Romance eBooks

This was sweet and romantic. I felt the chemistry of this couple from the moment they met on their first date. I was drawn to the lovely personalities of both. Well-written and sexy in a sweet, innocent way. I loved it. Uniquely described and fun. The hero Andy was particularly loveable as he was goofy and relatable. Well "acted" if you hear the Audible/Whispersync version.

This novella is advertised as book 0 in The Ivy Years Series (5 books so far plus this novella) but the story follows The Year We Hid Away: A Hockey Romance (The Ivy Years Book 2). Therefore, it’s really book 2.5. I read it in the wrong order, but it didn’t matter. It was so sweet!

I am loving this series. I recommend the first in the series, The Year We Fell Down: A Hockey Romance (The Ivy Years Book 1), and I’m reading the next one, The Year We Hid Away: A Hockey Romance (The Ivy Years Book 2). Wonderful, so far.

Blonde Date An Ivy Years Novella The Ivy Years Book 0 edition by Sarina Bowen Romance eBooks Reviews

4.5 stars -- OK, so I actually wasn't that interested in Blonde Katie in The Year We Hid Away, so I wasn't sure how interested I was in reading this little novella.... But I did have a bit of a soft spot for the little I'd seen of Andrew, and since I was binge reading the series, I figured why not? And I'm SOOOOOO glad I did!! I LOVE me a beta male, and Andy B just fit that bill to a tee!! He was so uber sweet and adorable and a bit awkward and it just hit me in all the right places. I loved reading about him, and could have devoured even more with him in it.

And much to my surprise, I found I really enjoyed Katie too!! She was just past the point of realizing how shallow her early months of College had been, and so she was at the perfect spot to be looking for something more meaningful. I loved that she saw all the good things in Andy. But really, how could you not? I loved the way he helped her through that party by using the game.

I thought the ending was really intriguing too -- especially since I've read further in the series and we do meet Dash again, though not in a leading role. He's an interesting character, b/c he's thrust into a bad situation and instead of making the right choices, he makes the wrong ones...but at least it weighs on him.

So yeah, if you want a sweet little read with an adorable beta male, then this is definitely for you. Course I ended up reading the teaser of book 1 (even though I read it awhile ago), and now I want to read it again. So I think I shall....
After the slight tease of Katie and Andy's night in The Year We Hid Away, I couldn't wait to find out what *really* happened on their date. And let me tell you, it was a sweet and hot night and I loved every single minute of it.

We meet Katie in The Year We Hid Away and I thought I had her pegged right away. She was the ditzy party girl who always had a guy in the picture. I kinda assumed she was just at college to get the obligatory degree before marrying a rich guy and that she would spend the rest of her life getting taken care of. Well, you know what they say about assumptions, right? I couldn't have been more wrong. She was intelligent, but insecure. She was definitely a product of her upbringing. She's made mistakes and she tends to beat herself up over them. It's part of what makes her real and likable.

I absolutely loved-loved-LOVED Andy. He's an athlete, but he was a bit nerdy and pretty quiet. He's not the guy you would picture someone like Katie with, but he was the perfect guy for her to turn to in her moment of need. Of course, he's had a crush on Katie since he first saw her in class, so he was more than happy to help her out. I couldn't help but root for this guy. He was just so damn charming.

Katie and Andy's night had a little bit of everything. There was drama and awkwardness because of the situation they were put in, humor and banner that just made me sit with a goofy grin on my face as I read, and sexy, swoony moments that were absolute perfection. These two were great together! I definitely hope we see more of them in the upcoming novels in the Ivy Years series.

Novellas are a tricky thing to master, particularly when they're part of a series but follow new characters. Sarina Bowen knocked it out of the park. Blonde Date is nothing short of brilliant. The characters were well-developed, the storyline felt complete (though, you know, I wouldn't be opposed to more from Katie and Andrew, but not because it was needed... because I'm greedy) and it was the perfect length. This lady has definitely landed a spot high on my auto-buy author list with this series. I have a total case of grabby hands for The Understatement of the Year, the next book in this series and a M/M romance.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Andy Baschnagel isn't the typical jock. He was the nerdy kid in high school. Always kinda shy and quiet. Never good at small talk. Doesn't have any dance moves. Not a good track record with women. But put a basketball in his hands and he calms right down. He's Bridger's neighbor and he also went to the same school as Scarlet. We know he's loyal and a good friend for helping out Bridger with Lucy!

Now Katie - Blonde Katie - as Scarlet refers to her. Scarlet recommends Andy when Katie has sworn off men, particularly football players. She is pledging a sorority and can't show up without a date. So Scarlet sets them up on a "blind date". Katie recently had a bad experience with a guy and she's totally embarrassed. It makes her look at college in a different light and she's not sure how to handle this situation. How does she face her humiliation? And she surely can't tell her blind date?

But Andy isn't the guy that Katie is used to. He's a gentleman with no agenda and a little silly whose focus is totally on her. He knows he doesn't really stand a chance, but with a little pep talk from his sister he decides a little confidence may go a long way so she dares him to ask her out. And he's competitive so who turns down a dare.

It's a night that neither one expected. And a night that will change their lives forever!!
