I would like to start my review saying that sometimes a reader needs a sweet and cute read after reading a “heavy” book and Kiss Collector by Wendy Higgins is just the sweetest option because it meets all the elements to enjoy a pleasant reading that will be able to sweeten your world in the best way possible. When it comes to YA contemporary we expect things to be smooth and handle with care and this book is so much more.

Wendy Higgins penned an emotional, real story of a young girl who has lost hope in love and men. She exemplified in such a natural way the difficulties and problems that the protagonist faces, such as family problems, the loss of faith in love and the thought that all men cheat. And it's a blessing that she realizes little by little that not all guys are equal and generalizing is not clever because life gives you the kind of surprises that you don’t expect.

The plot has a rich diversity that turns this book into something more real and empowering. It is all about family, friends, deceptions, young love and challenges. It screams honesty and girl power. The storyline goes smooth and is stunningly developed. Each page made me dive and get lost in the story as one more character. The main characters are raw, complex and real.

Zae’s faith in love is weak and it could be broken into millions of pieces if the difficulties get bigger. She is not only about to lose the faith in love but she is also about to be disappointed on men. And the best way to deal with it, will be a bet with her best friends because that’s what friends do: to support you when you do crazy things. That bet will be a delicious competition and no guy will be safe. Bad boys, nerds, players every guy will be a target of Zae and her besties. They will kiss them and leave them because men always take and this time the roles will be reversed… Total girl power.

It is intense and wonderful to accompany Zae on this journey where her heart is not at stake until an anonymous poet confuses her with his beautiful words. Her transition from a girl to a young woman is like watching a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. She must make decisions that will guide her to adulthood.

This is a light beautiful book that will turn your heart upside down! There is an adorable romance awaiting for you and a lot of boys whose kisses will melt you!

I loved how this one ended.
So good. Very quick, fun read. I got sucked right into the story and didn't want to come back out. Now I want more of Zae and her friends. Great ending, but I seriously want more!
Solid read even though it brought a lot of sadness while reading. Kept me engaged. Glad to read in my day off.
All the fun, drama, longing, and swoon you’d expect from Wendy! PS. The end of this book just got me with all the feels.
Cute story, but not necessarily one anyone over the age of 16 will enjoy. I'm 76 and usually love Y.A. (young adult) novels, but this one was a bit too simple even for me!
This book is as cute and wonderful as the cover and I couldn't put it down. I'm usually not a contemporary fan but I loooved this book! The MC is so unique with unique goals in life and friends who aren't perfect but are always there for her. Can't recommend this book enough!
Wendy's storytelling is as flawless as always. Somehow Zae is an honest member of a healthy friend-group despite her battle with the inescapable isolation of adolescence. Crumbling romantic relationships and nervous regard for the future could break a softer girl, but Zae has the sense to follow her instincts and listen to the people who care the most. The book is a nice change of pace in that the group of girls support and love each other. Normal teenage shenanigans ensue, but Zae and her friends use their bond to bolster and praise - an idea not often explored in contemporary YA. It was refreshing to read a story about normal girls having normal experiences and feelings without the extreme vindictiveness. Overall, Zae's tale is a sweet feel-good heart-warmer with a swoon worthy conclusion - because of course the final kiss is what we're all here for.
